The Need
One in four Coachella Valley adults has had to cut the size of meals or skip meals entirely because they couldn't afford food, according to 2025 HARC survey data. One in 10 local adults has gone a whole day without food. The Challenge ONE-PS and The Center invite every Palm Springs neighborhood organization to participate in a friendly competition to see who can collect the most donations through July and August. This is a chance for neighborhoods to build community spirit and for neighbors to connect around a common cause while increasing donations to the Community Food Bank during a period of heightened need. The Prizes At the conclusion of the drive, the neighborhoods that collect the most food and pet food donations, cash donations, and have the most creative food drive campaign will each receive special recognition and bragging rights. The neighborhood that contributes the most food by weight will receive The Center's Community Food Bank Silver Bowl, a traveling trophy that will be held by the winning neighborhood for one year and returned to competition the following year. Along with the trophy, the winning neighborhood association will receive public recognition through ONE-PS, The Center, and community media, a private tour of The Center’s Community Food Bank and celebratory reception, and recognition for their leadership in addressing food insecurity in Palm Springs. Other awards include the Heart of the Community Award for the most dollars raised and the Neighborhood Spirit Award for the most creative campaign. |
